Say hello to Lesiba Ledwaba #MyMenzies

25 August 2025

👋 Say hello to Lesiba Ledwaba, Passenger Services Duty Manager at OR Tambo International Airport (JNB), South Africa.

In June, Lesiba completed his first ever Comrades Ultramarathon. The 90km race is the world’s largest and oldest ultramarathon, with participants running between Pietermaritzburg to Durban. After a strict 8-month training programme, which saw Lesiba complete an average of 220km per month, he successfully completed the impressive feat in 11 hours 32 minutes.👏

Speaking about his love for running, Lesiba said:

“It began when I saw an 83-year-old become the oldest athlete to finish the Comrades Ultramarathon. Hobbies, like running, play a crucial role in achieving a healthy work-life balance by providing stress relief, enhancing mental well-being, fostering personal growth.”

Having recently celebrated 10 years at Menzies, Lesiba shared some insight into how running has helped him build a career in aviation.

“My role is to provide support and supervision to our team. Overcoming challenges is like preparing for a race – you have to plan and prioritise and, most importantly, stay optimistic!”

Speaking about his favourite thing about Menzies, he said:

“You meet different people from different walks of life every single day. It's an industry where I can keep learning and continue to grow, both personally and professionally.”

Congratulations on your outstanding achievement, Lesiba. We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next! 🏃‍♀️
