Say hello to John Duffy #MyMenzies
22 July 2024
π Say hello to John Duffy, Training Officer at Edinburgh Airport (EDI).
In his role, John is primarily responsible for inducting new Dispatchers and Gate Coordinators into the business. “It's a role I love doing,” John says. “I enjoy being able to pass on my knowledge and passion for aviation to the new starters at the airport”.
John has been employed by Menzies since 2012, but his career in aviation stretches back further than that. At the age of 18 John joined the RAF, where he was responsible for ground handling, as well as cargo and passenger services. After leaving the RAF, John worked in a series of different roles including Ramp Agent, Dispatcher and Gate Coordinator.
β° Away from the airport, John is busy training for his fifth Mighty Hike in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. “I’m doing the 26-mile hike for my Dad, who has sadly been diagnosed with MDS Leukaemia. Macmillan is an amazing charity which has helped many of my family members, friends and colleagues,” John explains.
“Without support from my colleagues at work this walk wouldn't be possible,” John says. “I’ve been very lucky to be sponsored by the John Maxwell Menzies (JMM) Community Fund, which encourages employees to participate in charitable, voluntary and community related activities. Thank you, Menzies!”
Best of luck with the hike, John. You are an inspiration! β¨
