Cameron Barratt joined Menzies in 2014 on the warehouse floor in Brisbane and rapidly progressed to a leading hand role, always pushing to learn more and apply his developing skillset. Cameron joined the OSEA region’s bespoke freighter ramp handling team as a ramp coordinator for Cathay Pacific freighters and continued to progress through supervisor roles and into warehouse management.

Cameron’s ability to be agile through recent challenges of shifting flight schedules and resource shortages has seen him recently appointed as terminal manager in Brisbane, one of Australia’s cargo stations.

Cameron’s nomination describes how he demonstrates agility: “Over two weeks, Brisbane received extra flights and ad hoc charter flights, including six cargo wide body, cargo in cabin flights; two ad hoc charter flights full with rapid antigen tests and a QR 777 freighter.

“This was also the first QR freighter to be handled by Brisbane cargo with little lead time for training. During this time, Cameron displayed agility by being flexible with his working hours to meet the demands of all the extra flights. He coordinated the warehouse and operations team to meet customer requests as the extra flights and charters into Brisbane bought close to 400 tonnes of extra cargo through the warehouse.

“Cameron’s quick thinking and coordination of resources and labour meant we were able to provide our customers with the requested extras, all operations were completed in a safe and secure manner and we proved once again that Menzies is a flexible, premium service provider that has people with passion and pride.”

Cameron was presented his award by Craig Midson - General Manager Ground Handling (NSW & ACT), at the Brisbane International Cargo facility and shared his thoughts: “I’m so incredibly grateful to be recognised on a global level by my colleagues for the We Are Menzies Awards. Menzies is a fantastic place to learn, grow and achieve industry-leading skills and this award certainly was not achieved alone.”
