Trainers journey to Japan for airline expertise
26 February 2025
Today, we’re sharing the story of two colleagues who travelled halfway around the world to support their team and deliver an excellent service for our airline customer.
Recently, our teams at Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN), Sweden put months of training into practice as they welcomed All Nippon Airways (ANA) to the airport - the first-ever Japanese airline to fly direct between ARN and Tokyo Haneda (HND).
For two Front of House trainers, the preparation process involved a trip to Japan to gain valuable knowledge and skills to share with colleagues at ARN.
Trainer Alexander Åman, shared details of the journey: “We were invited to Japan by ANA and had the opportunity to travel on one of their flights from London’s Heathrow Airport. It was very interesting to experience the flight from a different perspective, with the mindset that this will soon be an airline that we handle back at ARN.”
Following their arrival in Japan, the pair undertook a six-day intensive training course at the ANA Blue Base, the airline’s specialised training facility, and at Tokyo Haneda Airport.
“We met three of their Education and Training Customer Services employees who provided extensive training on the ANA brand and procedures. We were also able to see, firsthand, how ANA employees perform their role within different areas of the airport and relate that to how we train our own colleagues at home” Alexander revealed.
They returned home to share their information with the Stockholm Arlanda team and undertake final planning. “When the inaugural flight finally took place, we were 100% prepared and the flight departed on schedule” Alexander recalled.
In his reflections, Alexander said, “I feel very privileged to have been given this opportunity and I would say that this form of training and education really enhances the quality and productivity for everyone involved.”
Congratulations to Alexander and our ARN colleagues during this exciting time!
