Putting training into action

22 January 2025

On a snowy December day in Pittsburgh, Lead Tank Farm Agent Amy Aulet was minutes from work when she came across a serious car accident. With first responders yet to arrive, Amy didn’t hesitate and stepped in to help.

Earlier in her career, Amy volunteered for first aid and CPR training to support the Pittsburgh (PIT) fuels team. Using the skills she had learned, she took action to keep the injured safe and stable, and shared critical information with emergency services when they arrived.

Reflecting on the experience, Amy said “My training helped me to keep calm and in control, whilst giving me the tools to help those who were injured”.

“I am very thankful for my training and that I was able to use it to help five people who were scared and injured” Amy said.

Jamie Smith, General Manager at PIT added, “It’s no surprise that Amy would jump in and help someone in need of assistance.  It is just the type of person Amy is—she never hesitates to assist or volunteer and is an integral part of our team.”

Well done, Amy! Your courageous and quick response to this challenging situation has set an incredible example for others.
