Amsterdam turns green

19 May 2021

Since 2005 the Menzies team in Amsterdam has been gradually going green…and now has almost 50 electric trucks, steps, carts and belts in operation.

Using a combination of leased and owned equipment, Menzies is now operating almost 100% green turns for easyJet, Ryanair, Norwegian and Jet2.

Our customers are delighted to be part of our environmental programme. KLM and easyJet even introduced the Dutch Minister for Transport Cora van Nieuwenhuizen to the Menzies team when she visited them at Schiphol Airport last year!

With exhaust emissions and particulates a significant environmental concern, and Schiphol being able to support the use of electrical equipment, the switch to electrical equipment is both welcome and possible. Before flight numbers were affected by the pandemic we were making excellent progress on carbon emissions with a 10% reduction between 2018 and 2019.

This is a great step on our journey to 2033, our target date for becoming carbon-neutral. Find out more about our approach here.
