Our sustainability programme: underpinned by research

17 November 2020

Menzies is inviting employees to take part in a questionnaire to help develop our Sustainability Programme.

The programme will be led by Katy Reid (Group Compliance Manager) and Jonathan Hankin (Manager Technical Services and Engineering Standards).

What is a sustainability programme?
A sustainability programme is a way of managing and measuring an organisation’s impact on the world – not just on the natural environment but also on society. It is measured in terms of environmental (eg carbon emissions), social (eg diversity and inclusion) and corporate governance concerns (eg managing risk, employee relations).

The Sustanability Programme at Menzies
The programme will build on planned and existing activities (for example an environmental management system and greenhouse gas emission reporting) and will identify new ways that we can meet our environmental, social and governance (ESG) responsibilities – helping Menzies achieve sustainable growth.

Key areas it will cover are:

  • Operating efficiently and reducing our environmental impact and carbon footprint
  • Stakeholder engagement (local communities, customers and employees)
  • Best practice ESG reporting
  • Creating long-term value for Menzies and shareholders

Did you know that Menzies already takes its environmental and social responsibilities seriously by…
…using 17% electric ground service equipment (GSE) worldwide?
…offsetting over 2,300 tonnes of CO2 emissions with the World Land Trust last year?
…asking all employees to complete modern slavery training 2019?
…introducing a ‘Dignity and Respect’ training module for all employees in 2020?

How to get involved in the Sustainability Programme
As a first step, we’re gathering information from colleagues and customers. You can help shape the Sustainability Programme by completing our Sustainability Questionnaire by 1 December. This is hosted on a third-party site and all responses will be treated as confidential.
