Congratulations to Kelly-Anne Scott, our global winner for Integrity for spotting and reporting suspicious cargo leading to the confiscation of undeclared products.
After joining Brisbane Cargo five years ago as a cargo flight clerk, Kelly-Anne took on the portfolio of key account contact for Cathay Pacific Cargo in August 2021 and attained the licence of a 747 Freighter Ramp Coordinator. Kelly-Anne has assisted other ports in the region with flight operations and training and in March 2022, was appointed a Cargo Supervisor with responsibilities across the business.
Kelly-Anne was nominated for her commitment to integrity when she spotted and reported suspicious import cargo activity to Australian Borderwatch. This referral led to the successful discovery of a large amount of undeclared tobacco which was confiscated by Australian Border Force.
Not only does Kelly-Anne’s action show continued commitment to honesty, integrity and high standards, it also strengthened Menzies reputation and relationship with our industry partner – Australian Border Force. Nickie Randel - Senior Border Force Officer (Cargo Operations QLD), said, "Australian Border Force appreciates your willingness to report suspicious activity which has resulted in these detections, keep up the good work!"
Kelly-Anne shared what the award means to her, “I was in a state of shock and lost for words. I am very shy and like to think of myself as a quiet achiever so to be recognised in front of not only my team but on a global scale is an absolutely huge accomplishment for me! When I delve deeper into the meaning of integrity, every word resonates with me and the kind of person I strive to be every day. I am honoured and proud to be recognised for being my true self and demonstrating something that comes so naturally to me. I am grateful to Menzies Aviation for giving me the opportunity to do so.”
Dagmara Sobczak, Cargo Terminal Manager Brisbane presented Kelly-Anne with her award, “I was beyond excited and very proud to hear of Kelly-Anne’s win. I have witnessed Kelly-Anne over the years go from strength to strength and have enjoyed watching her grow. She takes on every challenge and opportunity that is presented and completes her work with integrity, so it was perfectly fitting that she has won this award. What made this award win even more amazing is that this is the second We Are Menzies Global Award in a row for Brisbane Cargo, with Cameron Barratt winning the 2022 Global Award for Agility. We have a fantastic, dedicated team which makes us proud.”
