Edgar Cruz, Training Coordinator based in Mazatlan (MZT), Mexico has worked at Menzies for more than 20 years. Edgar was chosen as the winner of the global Safety & Security award and was also chosen as our Employee of the Year for his commitment to safety.

Edgar received 13 nominations from his colleagues for demonstrating his commitment to safety and security during a serious incident at the Mazatlan station. The nomination from German Cruz Vasquez details Edgar’s leadership, “Edgar Cruz assumed control and leadership to follow the emergency response procedures to reassure and safeguard all the employees who were in the Menzies office; locking the doors and windows. He notified our immediate managers and gave instructions to all colleagues to talk to their families so they would know that they were safe and protected.”

Edgar shared his thoughts on winning the Employee of the Year, “In the more than 20 years that I have worked in this great company, I have grown, both professionally and personally. During a high-profile emergency event, I was able to react in line with the security protocols. This led to me being nominated for a We Are Menzies Award and ultimately being selected as the global winner in the Safety & Security category and being named the Employee of the Year.

This was thanks to the great team we have at the MZT station. I would also like to thank the regional manager Cynthia Cisneros, Irvin Godoy and Braulio Cuevas. Their training and support have shaped me into the employee that I am today. I hope to continue to develop because I take great pride in belonging to this great company.”
