We’re proud to be supporting the United Nation’s International Women’s Day 2023 on Wednesday 8 March.

Our theme for this year is allyship and it’s something we will continue to focus on throughout 2023 to help make Menzies a more inclusive, diverse and equitable organisation which will benefit everyone.

Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of allyship before – our campaign is about educating colleagues and helping you understand what you can do to empower and support colleagues every day.

Here are three things you can do to get started or advance your allyship journey:

1. Take a moment to read this short allyship guide and discuss with your teams. It explains allyship in a simple way and includes some practical tips.
2. Read allyship stories from colleagues on We Are Menzies that highlight the difference allyship has made to people’s lives and careers.
3. Complete the unconscious bias training on your local Learning Managing System (LMS) such as Empower or Motive Learning. It’s eight minutes long and available to everyone. Please log in and search for Unconscious Bias.

Acts of allyship range in size from small, everyday actions to pushing for structural change in our policies, systems processes.

Everyday actions are the easiest to build into our working lives. To be better allies we all need to:

• Know why allyship is important
• Reflect on our own privilege
• Understand your power to make change
• Listen to each other's experiences
• Practise acts of allyship
