International Women's Day 2022
8 March 2022
We know the aviation industry has a long way to go to achieve gender balance. At Menzies, we are taking action at every level to improve our gender balance.
We want everyone to bring their whole selves to work and to achieve their maximum potential, regardless of their identity or background. There is more to be done but we are making progress.
We’re proud to be taking part in International Women’s Day 2022 which is shining a spotlight on breaking the bias. Everyone at Menzies can now complete unconscious bias training on EMPOWER and Motive Learning. Please log in and search for Unconscious Bias.
Women in Leadership
Diversifying our leadership helps us to better represent our workforce, and the communities we work in. It brings diversity of thinking to our decision making and helps us perform better as a business.
We created a global Equity, Inclusion and Belonging working group, which will focus on two key areas in 2022 – Talent Attraction & Recruitment and Retention & Development. We plan to seek the views from our employees on equity, inclusion and belonging areas through our Let’s Check In employee survey later in the year, and this will help further shape and strengthen our strategy for 2022.
By 2033, we’re aiming for at least 40% of our middle leadership roles to be occupied by women and 25% of senior leadership roles by 2025, in line with the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) 25by2025 campaign.
Twenty-two women leaders from Europe, AMI, OSEA & MEAA took part in the pilot Women in Leadership Programme in 2021 and a further group will take part in the Americas in 2022. The feedback from the pilot was overwhelmingly positive with 94% of colleagues saying they would recommend it to a fellow female leader.
Gender diversity targets
As part of joining the United Nations Global Compact we are taking part in the UN’s Target Gender Equality accelerator programme to advance women’s representation and leadership across the business.
We exceeded our target to double the number of women ramp loaders in Australia and New Zealand in 2021 and to celebrate diversity and belonging, we operated Menzies first flight for Aeroméxico at the Intercontinental Airport of Querétaro, with a team made up exclusively of Mexican women. Their passion and dedication make us proud to have them on our team.
We want to hear what you’re doing at Menzies to #breakthebias. Send your stories to Internal Communications.
