Gabriel Sofronea & Will Bennett - Teamwork Global Winner 2024 and Employee of the Year

When their colleague Michael Dixon suffered a cardiac arrest, Gabriel and Will took turns performing CPR while the rest of the team coordinated with emergency services. Their well-coordinated response not only saved the life of their colleague but showcased their ability to respond to a crisis as a team. In the nomination Tony Margerison, Fuels LHR JV and Support Service Manager said, “Both Will and Gabe paid tribute to the entire LHR JV team on duty the day they saved Michael Dixon’s life. I agree that while it was a whole team effort, they led the team on the day and took control of the CPR and defibrillator use. They are worthy winners and we are very proud of them both!”

About Gabriel & Will
Both based at London Heathrow's, Gabriel has been with Menzies since 2010 as a refueller and was recently promoted to the role of online trainer. Will is an Operations Supervisor.

We’re open and honest in all we say and do, creating trust, and growing our reputation for high standards.

We have a clear code of conduct which every member of the Menzies Aviation team is expected to know and follow carefully at all times.

We understand that integrity is simply doing the right thing. Sometimes this can take courage, but it’s always worth the effort.

We don’t claim to be perfect, no one gets things right 100 per cent of the time, but when we do make mistakes we’re the first to admit and learn from them.

We talk straight, stick to our commitments, lead by example, and treat others as we want to be treated.

Antoinette Tabet - Integrity Global Winner 2023

Antoinette was nominated for her keen eye for detail and strong knowledge of customs regulations specifically, the identification of misdeclared cargo reporting. She’s always quick to notice when something is not right and sets a great example for the team for her ability to spot false or misleading information and cargo irregularities. A true role model for our Cargo 5 “If you see something, say something.”.

About Antoinette
Antoinette Tabet joined the Sydney cargo team in 2018 as an import flight clerk and was quickly promoted to cargo supervisor and then cargo coordinator in early 2023.

Every day is different; we have the energy and expertise to respond successfully to any situation.

We know that aviation is an ever-changing environment and we are always prepared to react quickly when new challenges and opportunities present themselves.

We take change in our stride, with flexibility and composure, keeping our cool under pressure, and seeing every job through to the end.

We are resilient, pragmatic and creative, always thinking on our feet to get the job done right.

Marc Merigot - Agility Global Winner 2023

Marc won the global award for Agility for his proactive approach to reporting and for his ability to anticipate and adapt to potential challenges to ge the job done right. When nominating Marc, colleagues recognised the impact he has on others saying, “Nothing is ever too much trouble and if he isn’t able to help, he will always point you in the right direction. Marc is a pleasure to work with and a real support!”

Marc, Central Finance Manager, joined Menzies six years ago and has held various roles in the UK fuelling and cargo finance team, central finance and group finance

JoAnn Kelleher - Customer Focus Global Winner 2023

JoAnn Kelleher, was the global winner of the Customer Focus We Are Menzies Award for building relationships with other teams and using creativity and determination to find solutions to keep customers satisfied.JoAnn was nominated for her excellent customer service to not only Frontier passengers, but also her teammates and colleagues in other departments, “JoAnn is always friendly, ready to help and efficient. JoAnn’s commitment to travelling passengers and the rest of our team has helped to get quicker action for passengers and resulted in much greater customer satisfaction.”

Based in Denver, JoAnn joined Menzies in August 2022 as a Passenger Service Agent and is currently Passenger Services Supervisor.

Dallas Fort Worth Cargo - Sustainability

The Dallas Fort Worth Cargo team, was our global Sustainability winner for working with the airport’s Environmental Affairs Department to keep cardboard waste out of landfill during December. When the volume of e-commerce cargo handled by the team increased by a staggering 100% in the first two weeks of December 2023, there was a huge spike in the amount of cardboard needing to be recycled. Determined not to send recyclable material to landfill, the team at Dallas Fort Worth reached out to the airport’s Environmental Affairs department, and the two teams worked together to ensure that the cardboard waste was kept out of landfill.

Darryl York joined Menzies in 1998 and is now the general manager for Texas cargo, responsible for three Texas cargo facilities, two at Dallas Fort Worth and one at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
