Lisbon Airport (LIS), Portugal
Girls in Aviation Day was a joyful and inspiring event in Lisbon, hosted by Menzies Aviation and United Airlines.
40 students, aged 16 to 19, spent the day learning about aviation and exploring the many career paths available in the industry.
Highlights included:
- Touring behind-the-scenes areas of operations at Lisbon Airport.
- Watching how a Boeing 787 Dreamliner is prepared for its next flight.
- Meeting inspiring professionals working in different airport roles.
The students also met Jabili Kandula, a pilot, aviation journalist, and member of Women in Aviation International. She was crowned Miss New Jersey USA 2024 and now works at NASA.
This event showed that aviation is open to everyone. It highlighted the importance of diversity, inclusion, and female leadership in shaping the future of the industry.
Entebbe Airport (EBB), Uganda
To celebrate Girls in Aviation Day, the Entebbe team welcomed girls from local primary and secondary schools.
The students got a behind-the-scenes look at airport operations and learned about different careers in aviation. They met an Emirates flight crew, who encouraged them to dream big, and spoke with women working in cargo operations, showing that every career is possible.
Well done, Entebbe! Your efforts continue to inspire young women to pursue their dreams in aviation.
Salt Lake City Airport (SLC), USA
In Utah, our fantastic fuellers made Girls in Aviation Day memorable.
At the airport event, they set up a pop-up stand with Menzies merchandise and treats. They also brought a fuel truck and equipment used in their daily work, giving visitors a hands-on look at a career in fuels.
Young women and girls learned about the important role of fuellers and the pride and responsibility that comes with the job!
