👋 Say hello to István Kárpát, Turnaround Coordinator (TCO) and De-icing Operator at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD).

Having joined Menzies in 2012, Istvan works as a TCO over the spring and summer months, and is about to embark on his seventh winter as a De-icing Operator. He is also a qualified Trainer and regularly helps to induct new colleagues at BUD. 👨‍🏫

💙 Istvan points to the opportunities he’s had to progress his career and the diversity of his work as the most enjoyable aspects of his job. “As you can imagine, serving in multiple roles means that I never get bored,” Istvan says. “Every day brings new situations and challenges, meaning that I’m constantly learning new things after all these years.”

❄ Looking back over his 12 years at Menzies, Istvan recollects an urgent de-icing job that was required to prevent a Wizz Air flight from running late. “This stands out because it was culmination of years of hard work by many colleagues,” Istvan recalls. “We had put much effort into optimising our de-icing processes and that night demonstrated that it was all worth it.”
