MORSE Week iPad competition winner
1 June 2023
During MORSE Week we ran a special competition to win an iPad, sponsored by EcoOnline, providers of the ‘Swift’ reporting tool in MORSE.
During MORSE Week there were 914 hazards or near misses reported using the Swift App. From these, we randomly selected a winner – congratulations to Alastair Keast, pictured above receiving his iPad, from the Perth cargo team.
Shiana Gooch, Operational Standards and Compliance Manager shared how the team used the Swift tool during MORSE Week
“We love to participate in every MORSE week to celebrate our safety culture. This year, on day three, we focused on identifying hazards. The operations managers held a toolbox talk where they discussed hazards and the Menzies Cargo Golden Rules.
“The team conducted a workplace hazard hunt using Swift reporting, which is easy to use as they can access the tool via QR codes.
“Swift reporting allows us to minimise the use of paper incident reports and removes the risk of losing incident reports within the workplace or during shift change etc. The system allows a triage so that incidents can be reviewed to ensure correct classifications are applied.”
Graham Cowing, VP Group Safety Standards said, “It was great to have EcoOnline sponsor this competition during MORSE week. Introduced in 2020 to simplify the reporting process and reduce paper reporting, usage of the Swift reporting app has continued to increase with more than 4,000 events reported in 2022 and 6,000+ forecast for 2023. This tool is an integral part of our ‘Spot the hazard. Stop the near miss. Prevent the incident’ ethos and we’re hoping to work with EcoOnline again during MORSE Week #2.”
