Menzies stars: Guam station team
19 November 2020
Earlier this year we asked you to put forward your suggested stations for the 2020 GHI Pride of Ground Handling Awards. We received some fantastic suggestions and selected two as our official nominations: Melbourne and Guam.
Menzies’ Guam operation is the only fully comprehensive service provider for the airport, making it a critical part of the supply chain and support systems for the remote island community and nearby Northern Mariana Islands, Marshall Islands and Palau.
The cargo operation processes nearly all the United States Postal Service (USPS) mail entering Guam. As a result of coronavirus, USPS volumes increased by 200% and cargo volumes overall reached 30million Kilograms in the first eight months of 2020, compared to 20.6million Kilograms last year.
Our fuelling team provides all into-plane jet fuel services for every carrier out of Guam and our Facilities Maintenance Team ensures the airport baggage system continues to operate properly and efficiently.
The team's work also extends into the community in line with our ‘community and climate’ focus (part of our approach to environmental and social responsibility). In 2019 they partnered with the Islandwide Beautification Task Force to do a monthly beach clean-up at local beach park, contributing over 500 hours of service and removing more than two tons of plastics, recyclables, potentially harmful items, and trash from Taga’Chang Beach Park.
Not only that, Guam had zero aircraft damage incidents while handling 8500 turns and fuelling 17,600 aircraft for all of 2019 and up to August 2020. And the team’s track record for on-time performance is consistently strong – standing at Handling we reported 98.7% OTP in 2019 for ground handling 99.9% for fuelling.
And those are just some of the reasons why Menzies submitted the Guam team to the GHI Pride of Ground Handling awards…
