Teamwork at Toronto!
3 December 2020
Last week, Supervisor Charles Lavarias took an unusual detour from the cargo warehouse at Toronto to the ramp to help recover a pallet that had fallen off a dolly – mid-way to the waiting aircraft!
Menzies ramp agents handling the Air France flight notified the cargo team that help was needed and Charles responded immediately. He paused what he was doing and drove a 5 ton forklift out to the ramp to put the pallet back in place. He was accompanied onto the tarmac by the Operations Manager and Safety Officer because the forklift isn’t licensed to be used on the ramp without an escort.
The Menzies ramp team, airline and airport authorities were relieved to have Charles’ help and the flight took off nine minutes ahead of schedule and with all its cargo safely stowed.
