Toronto takes on new contract with AirFrance / KLM
15 September 2020
Building on the existing relationship between Menzies Aviation and AirFrance/KLM, the team in Toronto recently won a substantial contract to provide ramp handling and cabin cleaning services on 13 flights per week to Paris and Amsterdam.
Nathaniel Glover (Vice President – Ground Handling and Cargo - Canada Operations), highlighted the achievements of James Wong (Director of Sales), and Katherine Espinosa (General Manager) in negotiating the contract which was won back in July. Nathaniel explains; “AirFrance/KLM have been at Toronto for many years but had always worked with another handling company, so it was a proud moment when we won the business. The team did a good job preparing for the start up, with Marco Mare and Mohammed Rohil leading on the readiness and training.”
Such a good job, in fact, that the first AirFrance flight pushed back seven minutes early…and the first KLM flight took off 21 minutes ahead of schedule.
While AirFrance/KLM is a new customer for the ground handling business, Menzies has provided cargo and warehousing services to AirFrance/KLM for some time.
45% of Canada’s air cargo is processed at Toronto Airport, which has five runways. Toronto airport is Canada’s largest and handled nearly 50 million passengers and almost 500,000 flights in 2018.
