Falls from height

19 June 2025

Falls from height are a real danger, whether you work in passenger services, ground handling, fuels or cargo.

This risk is highest when operating GSE, such as passenger stairs/steps, passenger boarding bridges, belt loaders or loaders, fuelling equipment and de-icing vehicles, as well as in cargo operations or fuel facilities.

📣 As a MORSE reminder, remember to:

Follow correct GSE operating procedures

Inspect equipment regularly

Deploy guardrails and make sure they are secured

Access equipment using the correct entry point

Always use each rung of the ladder, maintaining three points of contact whilst climbing on or off equipment

Use the handrails provided

Wear the correct PPE, such as harnesses and non-slip safety footwear

Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings
