Giant pandas Yang Guang and Tian Tian made Edinburgh, Scotland their home for 12 years, as part of a loan agreement with the China Wildlife Conservation Association.

When the time came for their return to China a year ago, the Menzies team at Edinburgh (EDI) was delighted to be awarded the opportunity to look after this very special cargo, codenamed Operation Bamboo.

The pandas arrived in specially built travel crates and the Edinburgh team loaded them onboard the China Southern Cargo aircraft, alongside some tasty bamboo snacks for the flight!

Accompanied by a senior keeper from Edinburgh Zoo and a specialist vet, they arrived in Chengdu safe and sound the next day.
