Trio take on towbarless challenge

21 September 2023

Three of our team members in the Amercias can now successfully utilise a towbarless tractor to tow an aircraft, unescorted across the busiest airport in the world.

Joseph Resnick and Joshua Lagage from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Osvaldo Alvarez from Orlando International Airport - MCO (MCO) are the first Menzies employees to take on the challenge with resounding success. All three are now AMA certified, which means they can correspond with Airport Traffic Control Towers (ATCT) directly, without relying on airport provided escorts, which can result in delays. ⌚

Speaking about the impressive feat, Eric Hamilton, Regional Director said: “We’re incredibly proud of Joseph, Josh and Osvaldo. Their achievement makes them some of the most technically gifted operators in our field. They are practically the astronauts of ramp handling!”

❓Did you know? ATL has been recognised as the world’s busiest airport by passenger traffic since 1998. It offers nonstop services to more than 150 domestic and 70 international destinations, and holds the distinction of being the first airport in the world to serve more than 100 million passengers in a single year.

In what is a giant leap for Menzies’ handling operations at ATL, we offer our congratulations and thanks to the trio for their impressive achievement.
