MORSE recognition for emergency response

14 December 2023

Jenny Brompton, Vice President HSSE & Operational Excellence, Fuels recently presented the team at LHR-JV with special recognition certificates for their quick actions which saved the life of a colleague.

“I had the distinct privilege of presenting the LHR JV team with their MORSE recognition certificates, celebrating their outstanding response to a critical situation.

“On the 1st of November, a situation unfolded that truly tested the team's strength and resilience. In the morning, Michael Dixon suffered a cardiac arrest, prompting William Bennett and Gabriel Sofronea to initiate CPR and skillfully deploy the site's defibrillator. Their swift actions played a pivotal role in preserving Michael's life.

“Simultaneously, Chris Morgan demonstrated exceptional coordination of emergency responses, while Charlie Saward, Jordan Massey, and Chris Burden actively supported the effort by alerting the Airport Fire Service. The team's immediate and well-coordinated response, grounded in their rigorous training, is a testament to their unwavering dedication to going above and beyond to save Michael’s life. This remarkable incident underscores the importance of a well-prepared and collaborative team in the face of unexpected challenges.

“There was an additional heartwarming surprise for the team as Michael was well enough to join in with the presentation. It was a joyous moment, marked by laughter and jokes. The team also expressed gratitude towards their manager, Tony Margerison, for the aftercare and support provided.

Overall, it was a fantastic afternoon, and I'm confident that you will all join me once again in congratulating the LHR JV team on their exceptional achievements.”
