Preventing cyber-attacks

19 April 2023

Cyber crime, and in particular, ransom attacks are increasing. Victims can range from individuals to high profile businesses and we can all play a role in reducing this growing risk to ourselves and the business.

Here are ten things each of us can do:

  1. Complete the online cyber training.
  2. Don’t click on any links or reply to emails you are not expecting. Use the malicious email button to report them. As well as emails, be wary of SMS messages, WhatsApp, social media and phone calls as well.
  3. Don’t reuse passwords across personal and business applications. Keep passwords memorable but complex using these top tips & guidance.
  4. If you think you've been a victim of an attack, don’t worry, call the IT help desk immediately and they will help.
  5. Be careful what you post on social media, this could be used to trick you.
  6. Do you know who can view your profile? Check the settings on your social media accounts.
  7. Install updates when prompted by Menzies patching tools. Do not install any other tools, plug-ins, or software even if free without clearing with Menzies IT.
  8. To ensure your data is backed up, you can save your files to Microsoft OneDrive
  9. Only connect your Menzies device to the company network, other devices can use the guest WiFi.
  10. If you have any cyber security questions or concerns, send a message to cyber@menziesaviation.com or contact your local IT service Desk.

Please do follow these guidelines and help reduce the risk we face from cyber crime.
