One step closer to entering Portugal
We are one step closer to entering the Portuguese market after signing a subscription agreement with TAP Air Portugal and Groundforce Portugal with a view to the recovery and revitalisation of the airline’s aviation services arm.

On completion, we will have a 65% market share in Portugal, with more than 3,000 employees handling over 100,000 aircraft turns each year across five airports. Read our Chairman Hassan El-Houry and CEO Philipp Joeinig’s comments in the press release.

Salesforce is live
After an intense four-month implementation process, the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is now live for our commercial and sales colleagues. It helps manage interactions with customers and potential customers as well as streamlining processes. Thanks to colleagues from the central and regional commercial teams who enabled a seamless transition.

AMI invests in Johannesburg facility
Construction has started on AMI’s new warehouse and office space less than 1km from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The new 47,500 square-foot warehouse will be 47% bigger than the existing facility and colleagues in both the warehouse and office will benefit from an improved working environment.

A new solar panel system will generate at least 80% of the energy required and we will continue to use electric forklifts. We will also broaden our offering for customers with the introduction of a fully bonded function for import customers. This is a significant investment in our Johannesburg branch which has been operating since 2002 and affirms our commitment to South Africa.

AMI opens Toronto branch
AMI has opened a new branch near Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada. Located close to Canada’s busiest airport for cargo traffic, the new branch is AMI’s second in Canada and will be headed up by Sam Wangpeng, Country Manager for Canada.

A variety of wholesale air freight services will be offered at Toronto including, door-to-door services on global import and export shipments; exports with consolidation and ‘Back2Back’; ‘Quick2Ship’, AMI’s market leading platform for express shipments; X-ray screening and warehousing services; as well as customs clearance and documentation support. Cargo robot receives recognition
It’s great to see Mimi, our autonomous cargo robot from Dexory, featured in the 2023 MHI Annual Industry Report on the responsible supply chain. Published by MHI and Deloitte, the report features a case study on Mimi’s positive impact on our London Heathrow warehouse. Mimi carries out daily inventory checks, providing real-time data and automating inventory processes to measure, track and find goods. The daily checks have saved colleagues 20 hours’ each week and a further three hours’ each day that used to be spent on locating cargo. Data is being used to monitor volume trends so we can make better use of capacity. You can read the case study on page 20 of the report.
