Congratulations to Budapest for winning the Cargo Station of the Year.

In 2021, the team of 75 colleagues increased the amount handled by 86% from the previous year – a record year for Budapest! They built new cooling rooms for storing pharmaceuticals and were also accredited by IATA with a Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) Pharma certificate for the transportation of temperature-sensitive healthcare shipments.

Sustainability is high on Budapest’s priorities, and in their aim to become carbon neutral they refreshed their electrical forklifts in 2021 and made a commitment to purchase more electrical units in 2022 including an electrical main deck loader and electrical cargo tugs.

Tibor Fazekas-Herczeg, General Manager Cargo (pictured above receiving the award) shared his thoughts, “The entire Budapest team are excited to be recognised as the Cargo Station of the Year for 2021.

“It’s been a long journey to transform the cargo business and our team has done an outstanding job to achieve the best result in our history. Despite the ongoing challenges of Covid-19, we have stood by our values and will continue to live by our values going forward.”
