Winnipeg to the rescue

28 March 2022

In February, an Emirates 777-300ER travelling to Chicago O’Hare airport experienced technical difficulties and was re-routed to Winnipeg – a station that doesn’t normally handle wide-bodied aircraft.

The Menzies Winnipeg team stepped in and, with very little notice, responded with colleagues and equipment to offload all the passengers, baggage and cargo with ease. The team supported Emirates to organise hotels and transport as well as reloading the plane and handling check-in for the stranded passengers when a flight was re-routed to pick them up the next day.

Ryan Abram, Senior Regional Manager – Australasia, North America, UK & Ireland at Emirates said, “Your team on the ground handled us exceptionally well – special thanks and kudos to JP Pereira and Priscilla Pereira. The Menzies team were simply amazing. Their communication was excellent, so we knew exactly what was going on. I offer my sincere and genuine thanks for all their efforts.”
