Fuels focus on wellbeing

7 July 2021

Wellbeing Week ran from 21-28 June and the Fuels team got well and truly involved!

Throughout the UK and France, colleagues got together to talk about how they maintain their physical and mental wellbeing - sharing tips on everything from cycling to kitesurfing. Gentler activities like painting and drawing were also promoted for their wellbeing benefits.

The teams in London Gatwick and Birmingham took part in fitness activities and shared (and tested!) healthy recipes during the week. The oatmeal cookies, pictured, look delicious! They also learned about the benefits of essential oils and herbs such as lavender and rosemary and how you can incorporate these into your cooking at home.

The Stansted team recommended a range of activities like camping and paddle-boarding to help get colleagues, and their families, into the countryside and fresh air. And in Manchester, they suggested trying out mountain biking – they clearly know how beneficial it can be to spend time outdoors.

SVP Fuels, Sheena Robertson, shared her own wellbeing story, telling of her determination to overcome injury and joint pain through a combination of exercise and therapies. Commercial Analyst Fuels, Julie Nicholls, told the team about her online fitness challenge which helps her to take regular breaks and stay fit. So far, she’s travelled 800 miles across eight countries and lost 8lbs in weight! And Jenny Brompton (VP HSSE and Shell Operations) who recently qualified as a mental health first aider shared her love of crossfit and the many benefits it brings.
