Mark Lawrence retires after almost 25 years!

8 January 2021

Mark Lawrence, Group Financial Controller for AMI, who joined the business almost 25 years ago in March 1996, has decided now is the right time to ease into retirement and will leave  AMI at the end of January 2021.

Mark was recruited to AMI by Craig Smyth, the FD of AMI (later MD Menzies Aviation), as Financial Controller, when the business only consisted of AMI UK and Concorde Transport (the roots of Menzies Aviation). Since joining, Mark has contributed hugely to the successful expansion of AMI’s global network, which has grown from a UK only operation making £57k in profits to a multi-million pound global player in cargo wholesale. His contribution has been instrumental to AMI’s success story, both on the financial side and operationally.

As the longest standing John Menzies Group employee in Finance, Mark has seen AMI through all its successes, challenges and changes. Throughout, he has maintained an impeccable work ethic and has remained absolutely dedicated to his job and his colleagues, highlighted by the fact that Mark has not missed a single day of work through sickness in almost 25 years.

All the team at AMI would like to thank Mark for all the hard work and dedication he has put into the business over all these years. His work ethic has been exemplary and knowledge of the business invaluable.
