Cargo on the move at Darwin!
27 January 2021
Menzies cargo operation at Darwin has relocated from an off-airport site to a state-of-the-art on-airport freight and cold storage facility. The 6,250m2 multi-purpose building was commissioned by Darwin International Airport and others in a major effort to boost the local economy.
The move brings the Menzies cargo team closer to exporters and the airport precinct at a time when Darwin plans to increase its exports to markets in Asia.
Michael McCormack, GM of Cargo for Western Australia (WA) and the Northern Territories (NT), says: “Moving to this new facility gives Menzies a competitive advantage at the opportune time. The NT government predicts a significant increase to the territories’ economic output over the next three to five years, and it’s a great feeling to be part of that growth.”
