Flying colours in Frisco

17 September 2020

Back in May we told you about the success of the safety first approach in San Francisco and the team have now achieved the ultimate accolade: they passed their latest IATA audit with zero findings!

The audit, which takes place over a two day period, was completed in August. IATA auditors observed the team at work and checked equipment, training materials, manuals, policies and quality control procedures. The process was intense but the team was ready for it, and with the support of their managers they passed with flying colours.

A successful audit like this brings real benefits to the operational team. IATA share the information with international carriers, and because there were zero findings, those carriers shouldn’t feel the need to carry out their own audits. This frees up a huge amount of time for the Menzies team and for our airline customers.

IATA audits are carried out every two years and at the last audit at San Francisco a few findings were noted. It’s because of the team’s hard work and total focus on safety that they’ve now achieved a ‘zero findings’ audit. In fact, IATA noted how collaborative and supportive of each other the team is.

That support is more important than ever, as the team will be working together to maintain the high standards and aim for a second flawless audit report in 2022. But first, they’ll be getting together to celebrate with pizza and karaoke. Well done, team SFO!
