Scotland's ground handler wins contract for national carrier

Menzies, Scotland’s national ground handling company, has won a three year contract with Scotland’s national carrier, Loganair, at Glasgow and Edinburgh airports. From Sunday 15 November, Menzies will handle and clean 14,000 flights per year across the two locations.

One of the first flights was a charter taking the Edinburgh rugby team (pictured) to Dublin for their match against Leinster as part of the Guinness Pro 14 rugby union competition.

Phil Lloyd (VP North UK & I) sees this win as solidifying Menzies’ position as the ground handler of choice. He said; “Loganair’s operation has remained strong throughout the coronavirus pandemic, and the new business represents a 160% volume increase for Menzies at Glasgow, and 100% volume increase at Edinburgh during this period of uncertainty.

“It’s a substantial and significant win for the teams in central Scotland and the potential to grow our business alongside Loganair, who picked up a number of the Flybe routes earlier this year, in the future is really positive.”

Loganair COO, Maurice Boyle, is also pleased by the partnership, saying it will “focus upon delivering value and operational excellence while preparing for future growth as we look forward to meeting our customers’ needs now and in the future.”

Menzies already provides de-icing to Loganair at Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as de-icing, cleaning and ground handling at Manchester and Isle of Man.
