Specialist equipment deployed at St Maarten

In April, the Menzies team in St. Maarten handled four very special flights bringing mobile medical units from the Netherlands sent to help St. Maarten and St. Eustatius.

The eight units, known as hospitainers, come fully equipped with intensive care (IC) beds and were sent by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport to supplement the IC capacity of the Caribbean islands. Two 40’ and six 20’ hospitainers were delivered safely by Volga-Dnepr IL-76 cargo aircraft.

Nancy Bromet, VP St Maarten, said; “The team did a great job. The cargo aircraft has an on-board crane but with no 10 tonne forklift vehicle available, we had to use specially made steel beams to off load the larger units and move them onto a trailer.”
