Keeping it clean - how you can help with workplace hygiene
15 July 2021
We’ve all made changes because of coronavirus, and hygiene has been an area of focus for us all.
From wearing masks to singing ‘happy birthday’ twice each time we wash our hands, we’ve all made changes to improve hygiene and prevent the spread of infection. And now, with people returning to work, the focus on hygiene and cleaning is higher than ever.
What we’re doing to keep your workplace hygienically clean
At Menzies, safety and security are high priorities, and we’re working hard to keep your workplace clean so you can continue to work safely. We’ve introduced daily cleaning schedules and weekly deep cleans, so you can be assured that high-touch, high-use areas like door handles, restrooms and work surfaces will be disinfected regularly.
And we’re making disinfectant wipes available so that you can clean before and after using any Menzies equipment – whether that’s a computer keyboard or inside a company vehicle. You can find out more about our commitment to keeping your working environment hygienically clean in our latest bulletin (intranet log in required).
We’ll be carrying out regular SMART workplace inspections to make sure your workplace is clean and safe, but if you’ve any concerns or questions please ask your line manager or safety representative. And remember, if you see something wrong, say something.
What you can do to help
Hygiene is everyone’s responsibility of course, and safe working depends on a team effort. We recommend you follow the guidelines below. They’re useful at home as well as at work and are very simple:
- Wash your hands regularly and use hand sanitiser in between washes
- Cover your coughs and sneezes
- Don’t touch your face with your hands
- Keep your workplace clean and tidy
- Respect social distancing guidance
