Emirates in welcome return to Oslo

4 June 2020

Two months since the last Emirates passenger flight left Oslo, the Menzies team was delighted to see the customer come back to Norway for a cargo-only operation.

The return of Emirates was welcomed, not only because of its commercial significance but also because it allowed the team to validate their airline specific training (essential for signing off that the flight has been loaded safely and according to the airline’s loading instructions) which would have expired otherwise.

Using a passenger B777-300ER, Emirates were transporting fresh Norwegian salmon to countries across Asia. Airport Operations Manager, Ben King, hopes that there will be additional cargo flights in the coming weeks, ahead of a planned resumption of passenger operations in early July.

After a smooth operation, the flight pushed back an hour ahead of schedule and started its return flight to Dubai. Ben King was pleased that his team managed such a quick turnaround, but joked that it meant he didn’t get the chance to photograph it!
