Cargo takes off at London Heathrow with new contract win

21 July 2020

Last week we confirmed a significant new contract between Menzies Aviation and Qatar Airways Cargo, the world’s leading cargo carrier. The long-term agreement is for cargo handling, freighter aircraft handling and cargo transportation at London Heathrow.

As part of the agreement, which covers imports and exports, we’ll be working with ground handling to establish a freighter handling team to work with Qatar. Our existing trucking operation will adapt to support the new Qatar operation and we’ll be making some investments in our buildings including new temperature-controlled warehousing. This will create the largest dedicated warehouse capacity solution ever provided by Menzies to a customer at Heathrow. Qatar will move into the new facility on 1 September.

Robert Fordree, Menzies Aviation Executive Vice President, Cargo, says; “We’re delighted that Qatar Airways Cargo has appointed us as their new handler. This award is the result of a close working relationship in a number of locations which has enabled us to develop a deep understanding of the cargo carrier’s requirements. It shows that our renewed focus on our global cargo business and a clear strategy to partner with global carriers at multiple locations is beginning to deliver results.”

Guillaume Halleux, Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways said; “We share the same values of customer-centricity and service excellence and believe this partnership will enable us to offer smooth and seamless handling for all types of cargo, especially pharmaceuticals and temperature-controlled freight.”
