Landing soon at London Heathrow

26 August 2020

Following successful rollouts at London Luton and in Glasgow, we’re about to introduce Microsoft Teams to our largest UK station: London Heathrow.

From 1 September, all Ground Handling colleagues based at Heathrow will be able to connect, chat and collaborate using Microsoft Teams. The app is available for any smartphone or tablet, so it will be easier than ever before to stay connected, keep up-to-date and share information.

Vice President Frank Dobbelsteijn has been looking forward to using Teams at Heathrow: “Today it can take up to ten days for a piece of information to reach everyone at the station. With Teams, information will be instantly available to everyone who has downloaded the app.”

Frank continues; “It’s so important that we adopt new tools like Teams, particularly when flexibility is such a critical aspect of station life. At Heathrow we have 1,950 people working across multiple terminals in a range of roles serving more than 40 customers. Being able to communicate is essential to being able to run an effective operation.”

Microsoft Teams offers a huge number of features, and we’re starting off with basic communication and collaboration tools like ‘chat’ and ‘file sharing’. Colleagues who’re already using Teams will continue to have additional services including phone and video-calling and calendar.

And it won’t stop there! Plans are in place to introduce the Kronos time and attendance feature, so that employees will be able to manage shift swaps, clock in and out, and book annual leave from their mobile device.

Microsoft Teams is being made available to all Menzies employees worldwide.
