Amy Gore, HR Co-ordinator, recently completed her Human Resources Support apprenticeship which she undertook over 18 months with the full support of Menzies....

Like all UK apprentices, Amy attended regular lessons at college and completed written assignments as well as taking part in discussions with lecturers and keeping a log of relevant workplace experiences. She was also assessed by college staff while at work. It was both challenging and rewarding for Amy, who hadn’t undertaken any similar qualification since leaving college:

“I found the professional discussions the most rewarding. Talking about my work and giving examples took me completely out of my comfort zone, it was a different way of learning for me. But the process offered me a wider perspective of situations and issues and has given me a broader knowledge of HR and an enlightening look into other organisations and sectors.“

Amy completed the apprenticeship while working full time for Menzies at London City Airport. “The challenging part was fitting it into my work schedule. I needed to be organised and dedicated to reach my end goal.”

And what a goal to have achieved! Amy not only completed her apprenticeship qualification, but in doing so, also became an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) – the UK’s professional body for HR specialists.

“The apprenticeship was a great experience and one that stretched me and enabled me to look holistically at what I do and ways to improve on that. I would recommend the apprenticeship offered by Menzies to continue their journey of professional development.”
